HOUSING
The Wyandotte Nation Housing Department started in December of 1996. This department coordinates several housing programs the first and oldest program purchases newly constructed homes, acquires existing homes that are renovated to new home status, or new modular homes. Over 30 families have benefited from this program. Another program was established to help tribal members with water or sewage problems. This program assists in hooking to rural water, install rural water meters, drill wells, hook to city sewer lines or install a complete septic and drain field. Yet another program was established strictly for low and very-low income Indian homes in need of modernization. This program assists homeowners whose property is in need of structural strengthening, heat/air conditioning units, and other types of definite living upgrades. The most current program established provides limited homeownership, rental, and rehabilitation services. To date, 7 Tribal members have benefited from this assistance.
