FAMILY SERVICES

The Mission Statement of the Wyandotte Nation Family Services Department is to provide services to tribal families in a manner that will preserve, promote, and secure the family unit: The Wyandotte Nation Family Services Department was established in 1999 in order to coordinate and combine tribally related services and social services. The programs administered through the Family Services Department are: Tribal License Plates or “tag" program, Tribal Enrollment, Indian Child Welfare, Infant/Child Passenger safety, and other social services including but not limited to school supply vouchers, winter school clothing, utility assistance, rental assistance, and family emergency services. Other activities funded throughout the year are the Wyandotte Nation Children's Christmas Party in December and a Summer Youth Health Education Program. The Family Services Staff and the Bearskin Healthcare and Wellness Center Staff host the month long youth health education program to promote healthy living, exercise, educational, and cultural activities. The Wyandotte Nation Family Services staff works within the community to promote and support the safety and wellbeing of all children. Sitting Bull was quoted as saying:

“Let us put our Minds together and see what kind of Life we can build for our Children.”

The Wyandotte Nation as a whole strongly supports the community in which we live and continually participate in many community events.
